Gabriel Lefkowit, Composer/Conductor/Violinist

Green Forge Studio is home to the music of Gabriel Lefkowitz, composer extraordinaire for games, films, theater, and more. Gabriel loves working with clients to create evocative scores that immerse audiences and players in new worlds. Recent and current projects include Aces & Adventures (Triple B Titles), PopUp Dungeon (Triple B Titles), Aureum (Halcyon Productions), and Ancient Lore Village, a brand new fantasy-inspired “themed resort” in East Tennessee.

Gabriel was born into a musical family in the Boston area, and began playing the violin at the age of 4. He joined a youth orchestra at age 7, and immediately fell in love with the symphonic orchestra as an infinitely powerful vehicle of sonic expression. Around the time he was in middle school, Gabriel became an avid gamer, playing such titles and series as Zelda, Mario, Warcraft, Duke Nukem, Diablo, Heroes of Might and Magic, Doom, Starcraft, Counterstrike, and countless others, always with a great appreciation for the way a game’s musical score could immerse him within the world of a game.

In high school, Gabriel frequently arranged music from films and games for classical musical ensembles so he could perform them with his friends and at concerts, and gradually decided that one of his professional aspirations in life would be to compose original scores for video games and other media.

Gabriel studied Music Composition at Columbia University, and went on to study at The Juilliard School, taking many classes in Harmony, Orchestration, Conducting, and Music Technology to develop his compositional powers, all the while taking on student projects (mostly films and theater) to garner real-world experience as a composer for media.

In the summer of 2010, Gabriel was one of only five composers invited to study composition at the Aspen Music Festival’s prestigious Film Scoring Program and has since continued to write original music for the screen and stage, and to arrange and orchestrate the music of others for numerous performances and recording sessions.

Gabriel’s music has been performed live by the Knoxville Symphony, Owensboro Symphony, Dubuque Festival Orchestra, and Phoenix Symphony woodwind quintet.

In tandem with his career as a film and game composer, Gabriel is an accomplished orchestral conductor and concert violinist. Visit his conductor/violinist website here: www.gabriellefkowitz.com
